What makes it different?
As a cat lover myself, I wanted to create weather and timer apps that were not only decorated with cat illustrations but also offered a personal touch. I wanted cat lovers to be able to use the apps while spending time with their cats.
After brainstorming and conducting a comparative analysis, I developed four design concepts:
For cat lovers!
The main idea is to provide weather app for cat lovers that suggest activities to do with their cats.
Energetic!
Inspired by orange cats’ energy, the apps use orange colour as the identity. Also, the main idea for the timer app is to see cat’s tail swing left and right.
Fun!
The apps are fun to interact with just like how cat lovers enjoy their fun times with their cats.
Adorable!
To represent the cuteness of cat, this app is designed to be adorable

Crafted from the scratch
After developing strong design concepts, it was time to visualise the ideas. I followed several steps before arriving at the final high-fidelity design:

To represent a fun and energetic tone, I chose orange, which is also inspired by orange cats known for their playful and energetic characteristics.
Illustration
It wouldn't be fun without some cute cat illustrations! I also wanted users to customise the cat illustrations to resemble their pets or their favourite cat motifs.

Reflections & opportunities
Despite the challenge of fitting a large amount of weather information onto one screen, I thoroughly enjoyed this project. It made me realise how much I would like to work on gamified learning apps in the future.
During the project, I also recognised that my ability to create smooth animations was limited. I would like to further develop this skill so I can produce more seamless and engaging animations.
If I had the opportunity to expand the scope of the project, I would make it more playful by allowing users a wider room to customise their cats, giving them the chance to be creative too.
